Blue21 has opened an internship position for MSc engineering students to contribute to a feasibility study on an innovative floating breakwater system aimed at protecting nourished shorelines in Curaçao.

The internship is open to students in hydraulic, coastal, or civil engineering and will focus on the analysis and modelling of wave–structure interactions, hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and coastal morphodynamics. The project forms part of a real-world implementation trajectory, with the potential for a pilot deployment.

Interns will work with Blue21’s in-house numerical modelling tools and contribute to the development of nature-inclusive coastal resilience solutions addressing climate adaptation challenges in island environments.

The internship will be based in Delft, the Netherlands, and is scheduled to begin in January 2026, with the exact start date to be agreed. The position runs for five to six months and can be undertaken on a part-time or full-time basis. It is suitable for MSc-level students and may be completed as part of an academic internship requirement.
