Floating Housing Pilot in Gouda

Blue21 is contributing specialist engineering expertise to a new TKI Bouw en Techniek project led by Domera in Gouda.

The project centres on a full-scale demonstration model consisting of modular floating housing and adjoining floating infrastructure. Its aim is to develop practical knowledge on how floating homes, infrastructure, water quality, management and future upscaling can work together.

Blue21 will focus on the technical performance of the floating system, including stability, movements, connector behaviour and comparison between model predictions and monitoring data. INDYMO will contribute expertise in water quality and ecological impact, while Blue Revolution Foundation will support monitoring, validation and open knowledge sharing.

By combining full-scale testing with engineering analysis, the project will help reduce uncertainty and support the wider application of affordable, climate-adaptive floating housing in the Netherlands.

We look forward to working with Domera and the project partners to turn practical experience into knowledge that can accelerate the transition to floating living.
