Collaboration of Blue21 and Shimizu Corporation featured in Nikkei Architecture
We are very honored to be featured together with Shimizu Corporation in the prestigious Japanese Nikkei Architecture Magazine.
In the article of Nikkei Architecture, “Preparing for rising sea levels, maritime city concepts to be realized”, the sustainable marine floating city concept GREEN FLOAT of Shimizu Corporation has been introduced amongst others.
Since 2018, Blue21 has been in collaboration with Shimizu Corporation, one of the top 5 contractors in Japan and among the top 20 in the world. Together with Shimizu’s Emerging Frontiers Division in the Ocean Programs, we move forward steadily towards realizing the first GREEN FLOAT in Europe.
Floating cities are a much more environmentally-friendly alternative to expand our coastal cities towards the sea. It is an innovative and future-proof way to develop cities more sustainably, while tackling climate change, sea level rise, overpopulation and land scarcity.
The design and engineering of GREEN FLOAT have been worked out thoroughly and some of the most updated visualizations are shown in the article.
