Demonstration of Horizon 2020 Space@Sea floating island
The demonstration model testing for the Horizon 2020 funded, Space@Sea floating island is currently underway at the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands test basin.
The project aims to provide sustainable and affordable workspace at sea by developing a standardised and cost-efficient modular island with low ecological impact. The demonstrator design aims to showcase the innovative opportunities that floating can provide in the field of logistics, transport, energy, farming, and living.
Blue21 is a work package leader and member of the Space@Sea consortia alongside 16 European partners: DST, NEMOS GmbH, Technische Universiteit Delft, Mocean Offshore, Hamburg University of Technology, Bluewater Energy Services, Universität Rostock, GICON GmbH, Wageningen University & Research, University Duisburg Essen, Waterstudio.NL, ICEPRONAV ENGINEERING SRL, VALFoU, DEME Group.
