Researchers from South Korea visiting Blue21

We are honoured to receive another international delegation that is interested in meeting Blue21 and our Floating Pavilion Rotterdam- the “successful example of transformative adaptation in urban areas (IPCC, 2022)”.

Recently our team received researchers from Gyeonggi Research Institute, Dr. Jeehyun Nam, Dr. Jin-A Ok, and Dr. Lee, who were on a mission from South Korea to learn about floating urban and maritime development in the Netherlands.

The delegation learned that Blue21 has been appointed by the Mayor of Busan City, as a Task Force member to Busan Floating City project. Hence, they would like to learn from Blue21 the world’s leading company in floating development, particularly about rules and regulations, environmental impact and consortium building for floating urban projects.

Gyeonggi Research Institute is the think-tank of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The institute is involved in developing major policies that contribute to strengthening the cities and counties within Gyeonggi Province, increasing the quality of life for the residents. The delegation is now evaluating how to utilize water surface in a sustainable manner for various urban and industrial functions.

We are very happy to inspire our guests with the potential of floating solutions. And we look forward to contributing to making the western side of South Korea even more resilient and attractive.
