UN will have a floating office
The UN couldn’t have chosen for a more appropriate location for their Global Centre on Adaptation: a floating office in the Rijnhaven, next to Blue21’s floating pavilion.
The first mooring pile – which will function as an anchor – has been put in place by the Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen (Infrastructure and Water Management) and alderman Arno Bonte (sustainability & Energy Transition). A promising start of hosting the high-powered Global Commission on Adaptation, which will strengthen funding and practical solutions to climate change.
The Global Centre on Adaptation is expected to be completed in two years and will be the home of the climate Commission, overseen by former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, Co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Bill Gates, and the World Bank CEO Kristalina Georgieva.
